Humble Request to all State Governments: Please stop treating other state vehicles like refugees

The problem of traffic cops treating outside state vehicles like refugees is common throughout India, though its more or less rampant in some states than in others. But especially in Karnataka, the traffic cops pounce upon you like hungry leopards when they see a non-KA number plate.

The central govt. is already bringing so many reforms to the Motor Vehicles Act, they also increased the fines recently so that riders are more serious about following the traffic rules. Its high time now that the state governments too shun their prides and stop treating other state vehicles like refugees. We all live in one country for God's sake!

The only thing they should check is the validity of the driver and the vehicle:
  1. Driving License.
  2. RC Book.
  3. Insurance and Bill.
As long as the rider carries these documents and they're valid, I don't see why he/she cannot drive anywhere across the length and breadth of India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and from Kutch to Cuttack? Why treat other states' vehicles as if they're attackers or invaders?

If its a question of state specific taxes (such as Road Tax) then such taxes could be either centrally collected and then distributed to states on a pre-agreed arrangement (similar to GST), or they can be simply waived to other states' vehicles (considering that a large number of home registered vehicles ply outside the home state and an equally large number of externally registered vehicles ply into the home state, it will all balance out in the end). The latter strategy is much simpler to implement by states and may not even need any special legal amendments. The state governments should highly consider this.
