Ghislaine Maxwell turns out to be a seasoned Redditor

This eye catching post was made in the /r/SubredditDrama sub today as a bunch of reddit sleuths suddenly realized that the partner in crimes of renowned sex offender and racketeer Jeffery Epstein may have been a former redditor since as early as 2005.

One of the moderators of /r/Epstein made this pinned post gathering evidence of some details that strongly support the hypothesis that /user/maxwellhill may have indeed be the Maxwell in question. The most important detail was that the handle kept posting continuously for a period of 14 years until Maxwell's arrest last week when the posting stopped all of a sudden.

Some commenters were quick to point out why would someone so criminally involved use a real name handle. The reply came that the handle was created as early as 2005 when the charges against her weren't still there. By the time the charges came, the handle had accumulated a massive amount of karma and placed itself on the moderator list of a bunch of important subreddits like /r/worldnews and /r/travel. Its understandable that it was difficult to part with that handle after that point.

And that brings us to a very important point. If sex offenders like Ghislaine Maxwell are in charge of maintaining civility and order on one of the most popular forums on the internet, should there be a reckoning for that? Does the moderator selection process even involve some kind of ethics and moral sense on part of the moderator? Many other questions like these have crept out of the pandora's box today on Reddit once this drama started unfolding.

Irrespective of whether or not that handle really belonged to Maxwell, its comment trail indicates a very disturbing trend and should be outed from the moderator panels of various subreddits on that ground alone. Meanwhile, the buzz around this topic is causing reddit and other social media to have a field day today.
