Few weeks ago, I had made a post about how BigBasket has taken a positive initiative in fighting climate change by introducing "You Return, We Recycle", a wonderful policy which involves taking back used recyclable card-board boxes from customers at each visit.
Now, Flipkart is also going to take this wonderful initiative to minimize plastic waste - just like BigBasket, Flipkart is going to take back the plastic packaging using which the product was delivered to the customers. This is a laudable initiative that should be appreciated.
We should appreciate every organization that takes a step in this direction, however small the organization and however small the step! The least we can do as consumers is support these steps and those taking them which will ensure a livable future for our future generation.
Presently, this is a pilot project aimed at only customers located in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, and Ahmedabad but will be gradually brought to other locations too.
Let's hope that other ecommerce companies like Amazon, Myntra, Tata Cliq and Infibeam start this too, the world will be truly a beautiful and sustainable place then.
