1.2 lakh employees might lose jobs in coming days as IT companies decide to "skim some fat" in middle management layer

A renowned industry veteran in the Indian IT industry has spoken and the news isn't good. Three major tech firms, Infosys, Cognizant and Capgemini have already made it clear that they are laying off employees soon.

The industry veteran V Balakrishnan, the former CFO of Infosys has made it crystal clear that there is a lot of "extra fat" in almost all Indian IT companies which need to be "skimmed", and skimmed it will be in the form of a reduction in work force by about 10% or 1.2 lakh personnel across the industry.

Tech Tudor had already made it clear in a previous article that how this rot goes much deeper and is very much systemic, how this problem may not be solved unless the basic work culture problem affecting creative people like programmers and testers is fixed in these companies.

The lower rung of labor (viz. programmers, testers, designers and build engineers) forms the core that produces value in an IT company. How can the whole of the company be happy if the core isn't happy? Perhaps it is time now to fix this problem once and for all, and ensure better running of these companies.
