Today I received this WhatsApp video from a relative in Karnataka. The woman in video speaks about the sad story of her daughter who boarded a VRL bus on the evening of 21st October from Banglaore to Belagavi.
But en-route the journey near Chitradurga at around 02:00 AM, the VRL staff said that the luggage kept in the back compartment is missing, someone has stolen them. She lost a lot of things that day including her passport, jewellery, cash and a lot of other valuable things which she had kept in the back compartment like most of us. She is said to have reported an FIR at Chitradurga police station then and there.
The video is forwarded to make everyone aware about this danger, apparently there are no guarantees about your luggage when you travel by VRL. Having travelled many a times in VRL buses myself and placed my luggage in the back compartment, I've always found their staff to be professional who lock it carefully, so this seems to be a one off incident.
Nevertheless, I was always careful enough to keep really valuable stuff like laptop, cash, etc. in a bag near me and not in the back compartment. Probably, you too should keep this story in mind when travelling by VRL next time.
